Herpangina is usually an acute and self limited infectious disease caused by group A coxsackie virus that is characterized by fever, vesicles in the posterior part of pharynx and soft palate, sometimes ulcers in these parts of the oral cavity, and derangement of endocrine and gastrointestinal functions.
